Answering finance deputy minister Alfridah Kansembe, who paid a courtesy call on him at the National Heritage Conservation Commission (NHCC) South-west regional offices last Thursday, chief Mukuni said a lot of what was being advertised by foreign countries of the Victoria Falls was actually in Zambia and not Zimbabwe.

"We can't do anything about it (adverts to the effect that the falls are not in Zambia) but we have to get into aggressive marketing of the falls and other tourism attractions not as a country but as a region. What you see on most of the adverts on the Victoria Falls is actually Zambia. We have 1.2 kilometres of the falls on the Zambian side and 0.5 kilometres is on the Zimbabwean side," chief Mukuni said.
He said the largest viewing point was Zambian and even when viewed from the Zimbabwean side, much of what was seen was beyond the Livingstone Island on the Zambian side.
Kansembe, who has just completed her border facility familiarisation tour of Livingstone, Kazungula and Sesheke, had earlier asked what could be done to stop other countries and tour operators advertising the Victoria Falls as not being in Zambia.
She said the government would do everything to help chief Mukuni in his quest to improve the tourism sector in Livingstone.
